Book: Alice & J. F. B - The hundred-Year Saga of Two Seminole ChiefsAbout Us

Fleet Family Mineral Properties

In 1839, our Great, Great Grandfather, Dr. John Frippo Brown, came to Indian Territory under contract as an Army Surgeon traveling on the Trail of Tears with the Seminoles.  He fell in love with and married Kúnu Hvt’ké (White Skunk) a young Seminole girl.  Their Son was to become Gov. John F. Brown, our Great, Great Grandfather and The Last Principal Chief of the Seminole Nation (Oklahoma I.T.)  1843 – 1919.  One of his many children, Alice Brown Fleet, was our grandmother who married James (Jim) H. Fleet.  Her two Sons, John J. Fleet Sr. and Dr. Carl W. Fleet, were our grandfathers.

Our family mineral estate started in Oklahoma. With roots in both Creek and Seminole Nations.  The Fleet Family and other business partners were the founders of an oil field, Fitts Field, just South of Ada, Oklahoma.  After this discovery, our family and partners started purchasing mineral and royalties in other states, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, and Arkansas. Mostly around what is consider the traditional oil and gas fields of East Texas, the Permian Basin, and South Texas.  With anticipation that these fields would one day grow.  This took a couple of generations, and many are now producing.

Currently, John Fleet, III aka Jack is the President of Fleet Family Mineral Properties, Inc. and the Managing Member of Fleet Dickey Mineral Properties, LLC. He is a fourth generation mineral and royalty owner.
